Büşra’s project in Finland – Türkiye Fest

While being a volunteer of the European Solidarity Corps in Finland, Anna put in place her own initiative of solidarity at The Multicultural Association of Satakunta. She organized a Türkiye Fest !

For her CLIC personal project of solidarity, Büşra organized a rich and inclusive cultural event celebrating Turkish heritage. The celebration included Turkish music, live performances by volunteer singers, and traditional Turkish dances involving the guests. At the entrance, attendees were welcomed with complimentary Turkish snacks and coffee, along with a live demonstration of authentic Turkish coffee preparation. There was also a possibility to get to know Turkish handmade crafts, try out henna decorations and participate in a workshop of ebru (marbling) art. A photo exhibition with pictures from Turkish cities was also showcased and guests were invited to share their love for Turkey.

Büşra coordinated the event, managed communication, oversaw stage performances and still had a chance to personally greet the guests who joined the event. She is happy that the event created a warm, welcoming atmosphere that brought together people from diverse backgrounds. The goal of the event was to encourage the guests to gain a deeper understanding of Turkish hospitality and traditions and provide a unique opportunity for the locals in her project town to meet the Turkish people who live in their community.

The biggest thing Büşra learned from her personal project was to believe in herself, her skills and her ideas. She could not have imagined in the beginning how her small idea would become a big successful event. During the project Büşra improved her planning and organizational skills and learned how to think ahead and prepare for possible challenges. She was pushed out of her comfort zone and her confidence grew, helping her improve both personally and professionally.

This initiative was supported along the CLIC project. C.L.I.C. for “Coordinating Locally in order to Increase More Changes with  the European solidarity Corps” is a cooperation partnership we participate  in with 9 other like-minded organisations from 9 European countries. Together, we want to increase the impact and the visibility of the European  Solidarity Corps in our communities, while providing young people with a  strong educational value along their volunteering projects.
