Meet Caterina !
Volunteer in Terrain d’Aventure du Péri, in Liège.
While being a volunteer of the European Solidarity Corps in Liège, Caterina put in place her own initiative of solidarity. She organized an international volunteering camp in Terrain d’Aventure du Péri to built a “kerterre” an ecological construction-sculpture in lime-hemp for the children of the playground.
Testimony of Caterina during the project “I always thought that a workcamp was a moment of sharing for everyone. Each time I have done projects, as a facilitator or as a volunteer, I found that it was really a moment with a lot of diversity, a moment of mental openness.
I wanted to find a link between the little ones, the teenagers of the playground and internationality in general. And to do that, I wanted to do this project. Well, the entire team of the playground wanted to do a project to build a cabin that will return to nature. So completely ecological and sustainable. And also to work together for a common project.
A colleague of mine at the Terrain explained to me that there was this technique for this type of cabin, which I didn’t know at all. And so, now I’m also learning something new for me and it’s not bad.
It’s great, the volunteers also chose this project to have contact with the children and teenagers of the playground and I find that they are very well integrated, they take initiatives, there are a lot of exchanges. In our free time we visited Durbuy, it was also a moment of sharing, only between volunteers. We visited Marche-en-Famenne, for the statue festival. And also Dinant and a little Namur.”

This initiative was supported along the CLIC project. C.L.I.C. for “Coordinating Locally in order to Increase More Changes with the European solidarity Corps” is a cooperation partnership we participate in with 9 other like-minded organisations from 9 European countries. Together, we want to increase the impact and the visibility of the European Solidarity Corps in our communities, while providing young people with a strong educational value along their volunteering projects.
