Meet Emma !
Volunteer at IZUM Youth Club, in Estonia.
While being a volunteer of the European Solidarity Corps in Tallin, Emma and Leila put in place their own initiative of solidarity with “Green Generation” !

For their CLIC personal project of solidarity, Emma and Leila organised a series of five interactive workshops at IZUM Youth Club designed to promote sustainability, creativity, and environmental responsibility among young people. The initiative was organized with the support of volunteers at the youth club and a youth worker. They created a space where participants could learn, reflect, and take practical action together. The sessions focused on hands-on learning, reflection, and community engagement
The workshops explored sustainability through creative, hands-on activities. Participants learned about recycling and upcycling, made Valentine’s Day crafts from recycled paper, and turned plastic bottle caps into jewellery and bags while reflecting on the impact of plastic waste. An eco-hike combined litter collection with lessons on biodiversity and conservation. The project ended with Eco Fest, where participants designed a sustainability brochure and showcased their creations in a small eco-fair, sharing what they had learned.
Emma and Lelia believe their project was a success, as the workshops were well attended and participants were actively engaged in every activity. Youngsters not only gained knowledge but also applied it in creative ways, strengthening their awareness of sustainability and their sense of shared responsibility. The inclusive format encouraged collaboration across different ages and backgrounds, fostering peer learning, teamwork, and solidarity.
Through this experience, Emma and Lelia developed valuable skills in project planning, leadership, teamwork, and non-formal education. They also deepened their own understanding of sustainability while gaining confidence in managing a multi-step initiative. Overall, they feel proud to have created a meaningful project that combined learning with action, promoted solidarity, and left a lasting impact on the youth club community.

This initiative was supported along the CLIC project. C.L.I.C. for “Coordinating Locally in order to Increase More Changes with the European solidarity Corps” is a cooperation partnership we participate in with 9 other like-minded organisations from 9 European countries. Together, we want to increase the impact and the visibility of the European Solidarity Corps in our communities, while providing young people with a strong educational value along their volunteering projects.
