Malena’s project in Estonia – MasterChef Junior

While being a volunteer of the European Solidarity Corps in Paldiski, Malena put in place her own initiative of solidarity : MasterChef Junior.

In this project the children and teens from the youth centres participated in a cooking competition, inspired in the tv program MasterChef. The purpose of the activity was to have an event to bring kids from different youth centres and streng then the local communities. LääneHarju Huvikeskus, the hosting organisation of Malena, has 7 different youth centres, some of them located in remote villages with very limited transport options and variety of leisure activities. Also, the children have very different cultural and linguistical background (mix of Estonians, Russians, and Ukrainians).

” The Lääne-Harju Children’s and Youth Day took place on Saturday in Padi, which brought together many young people and families. During the day, several exciting activities brought joy and new experiences to all participants. Despite the fact that it started to rain in the middle of the day, the participants enjoyed a happy mood. One of the highlights of the day was the “Master Chef” cooking competition, organized by our volunteers Malena and Rocio. A total of 11 teams took part in the cooking competition, all full of energy and creativity. Each team received a mystery box with the food they had to use to prepare a delicious dish. This mission allowed young people to showcase their culinary skills and creativity, testing their ability to create something special from the ingredients presented. The next round of the “Master Chef” cooking competition will take place already this Friday, where young people will once again be able to test their culinary skills. We can’t wait to see what new and delicious dishes the young people will prepare this time “

With this activity, the young people were able to practise English, get to know people from other villages, improve their cooking skills, and creativity, and learn about teamwork, management and healthy recipes !

This initiative was supported along the CLIC project. C.L.I.C. for “Coordinating Locally in order to Increase More Changes with  the European solidarity Corps” is a cooperation partnership we participate  in with 9 other like-minded organisations from 9 European countries. Together, we want to increase the impact and the visibility of the European  Solidarity Corps in our communities, while providing young people with a  strong educational value along their volunteering projects.
