Nino’s project in Hungary – Mini Garden for the House of Volunteers involving local kids

While being a volunteer of the European Solidarity Corps in Hungary, Nino put in place his own initiative of solidarity : Mini Garden for the House of Volunteers involving local kids !

“The goal of my project was to create a pleasant and peaceful environment for volunteers working from home. I believe that such a space is essential for their mental well-being, motivation, and inner calm while carrying out their tasks. Inspired by this idea, I launched the project in the spring, and it continued throughout the summer.
Soon, I realized that I didn’t want to focus solely on volunteers—I also wanted to involve children. I wanted to communicate with community. I gathered like-minded people who shared my vision, and together we extended the project to include young students.
The children, who soon became my friends, eagerly joined me in planting a garden. It was a deeply emotional experience for them. They learned the value of work, saw the results of their efforts, and grew alongside the land—both physically and morally.
I remember how they laughed as they planted flowers, as if their laughter itself was watering the soil. That joyful energy became a symbol of the entire project: love and care that nourishes everything around it.
We concluded the project with a picnic to celebrate everything we had accomplished. One student told me something I’ll never forget: “I’ve never had a picnic like this. It was the happiest day of my life.”
That one sentence became the main inspiration of my life. I wrote chapter in my book about this day.  It was then that I realized—we hadn’t just planted flowers. We had planted joy, growth, and connection. And that, to me, is the real success of the project.

This initiative was supported along the CLIC project. C.L.I.C. for “Coordinating Locally in order to Increase More Changes with  the European solidarity Corps” is a cooperation partnership we participate  in with 9 other like-minded organisations from 9 European countries. Together, we want to increase the impact and the visibility of the European  Solidarity Corps in our communities, while providing young people with a  strong educational value along their volunteering projects.
