What challenge inspired this recipe?
This impact workshop is held to evaluate the impact of volunteering. A non-formal meeting (in this case in the volunteers’ house where volunteers had cooked lunch) was held with the volunteers, the tutor and a member of the staff.
Ingredients :
A nice place, enough time (up to 1 day), a member of the board to join and facilitate with the tutor
Creativity: some deliverable can be produce afterwards (in this case a photo-story).
Step by step guide
The aim of this non-formal time (it can also be a workshop) is to have free talks about the impact of volunteering on the volunteers themselves, on the organization, on the people helped by the organization (thus by the volunteers) and on the rest of society, local community etc.
Organizing the meeting outside the office in a nice way to create a nice atmosphere.
Listing questions or topics to facilitate the non-formal conversations about the different level of impact and sharing ideas and thoughts about it, letting the volunteers free to speak and express themselves.
Important to highlight! This innovative practice was really appreciated by the volunteers : having time to talk, going deeper into the impact of this experience and collective debate. A nice (and funny) photo-story came out of it, but something else can be imagined to materialize this special moment. |
Before you start cooking, keep in mind…
This is meant to be a collective workshop gathering several volunteers of an organization or a volunteer’s house. It has to be thought differently when there is only one volunteer.
Dedicating time (1 day + preparation+ deliverable), involving the board.
