What challenge inspired this recipe?
The bureaucratic system in Finland often feels overwhelming for the volunteers as they enter the country. Hence, we provide support with these issues already before the volunteer comes to Finland and help them to book required appointments in different offices. Helping volunteers navigate bureaucracy in Finland can greatly improve their experience and ensure they can go through the process very quickly and as easy as possible.
Ingredients :
A place to gather all needed information, can be for example an info page.
Step by step guide
The useful way of informing the volunteers about the administrative issues is to send them an email with useful information upon their arrival about the administrative tasks, especially when the appointments can be some time ahead. It is always good to ask the volunteers to make the appointments ahead of time to avoid long waiting.
Provide all necessary information, documentation for them while visiting the office. After the visit check if the documents are correct. If there will be a need for translation, you can also visit the offices with the volunteers providing them with translation.
Important to highlight! We got a lot of feedback about help with the bureaucratic process while coming to volunteer in Finland. By providing adequate help, we are able to proceed with everything faster which helps the volunteers to get familiar with Finland as they don’t have to stress about the administrative tasks for many months. |
Before you start cooking, keep in mind…
One of the biggest challenges is language barriers that can occur while visiting any office in foreign countries. Second of the challenges is the confusion of the administrative process especially when the process is complicated and requires a lot of bureaucracy.
