What challenge inspired this recipe?
When asking directly the volunteers about what would help them to get integrated in the local community, they mentioned this initiative: led by several organizations hosting ESC volunteers in their city, a common event was planned that enabled the ESC volunteers from the same city to gather, meet and exchange about their experience.

Planning common events with partner organizations who also host ESC volunteers.
In this case, a Christmas event was held by 3 different organizations.
The volunteers from Compagnons Bâtisseurs met the other volunteers of Tours. After this event, they kept the link and even made a solidarity project with other ESC volunteers.
Important to highlight!It strengthened the ESC community at a local level and also fostered their ESC integration in the local community. It enabled them to make a solidarity project (through and ESC funding for solidarity projects), reinforcing empowerment, common initiative and project management skills. |
