What challenge inspired this recipe?
After settling in, volunteers have a bunch of new information to process. If they are already coming to a house with other volunteers they are going to be faced with already set rules and customs that the group is used to. While they are settling in, it is good to have a guide to support them, but in order to make the project and experience their own, they should be included in the revision of rules.

Papers, markers
Step by step guide
It can be as simple as a house meeting after a new volunteer sets in where they have the chance to see the already implemented rules and then together can revise them. House agreement is a chance to collaborate and all should agree. Some of the examples of the rules:
- Safe space to share and express ones needs and wants without hurting others
- Quiet time
- Cooking and cleaning
- Recycling and energy saving
- Support in case of need
- House meetings, etc.
Whatever they are, once you have forged proper sentences that everyone can agree on, you can use the flipchart paper to write them and stick them in the visible part of the house.
Important to highlight! It can be added to the app like one of the good practices together with a game that reminds them of the all the aspects of the house( worst roommate and then from there find the best). House rules should be regularly revised. |
Before you start cooking, keep in mind…
All the roommates need to be on-board with the idea.
