What challenge inspired this recipe?
New volunteers, especially volunteers from Non-EU countries, face a lot of challenges arriving to a new country. One of the frequent ones is the bank account opening. Many banks don’t allow opening an account without the ID, visa isn’t enough. For the volunteer to get a local ID the process might take a while or its not needed which complicates the procedure. On the other hand, they can’t use their home bank account subjected to fees or national legislature.
One way we support our sending volunteers is advising them to open accounts on internet banks such as Revolut or N26. The process is much easier, safe, they have to verify their visa and the process is generally quick. They get an EU account as well as a card they can use.
