What challenge inspired this recipe?
This activity is aimed to support the volunteers in the beginning of their shared living on a project by creating a box with activity ideas that can be used in case they want to do something with their roommates but don’t have a specific idea. This can facilitate their communication and make them converse to find a joint compromise.
The trick to a good Pandoras box are specific activities and games that are fun and engaging.
Ingredients :
- glass jar
- markers
- paper
- tape
- wooden sticks
- pens
Step by step guide
It can be an upcycled glass jar, carboard box, any container that can be decorated and labeled as an Activity jar, Pandoras box or even something more creative.
You can write the activities on a piece of paper, or if you are feeling creative write them on a piece of a wooden stick (like an ice cream one). You can label each stick with a different color that can be for different themes (indoor, outdoor, quick, etc.) and than write activities like find a new hiking path and explore it, create a memory wall fort your photos from the ESC project, read 20 pages of a book in the local language, have a party!, etc.)
Once they exhaust their activity jar they can add their own ideas and recycle. They can pass it on to other volunteers and eventually the jar will get fuller and fuller with good ideas!
Important to highlight! It will facilitate the ice breaking process in the beginning, and can be a good challenge for the volunteers to keep them busy during the project. |
Before you start cooking, keep in mind…
The success of the practice can depend on the motivation of the group.
