What challenge inspired this recipe?
Volunteers need to move around the project place not only to get to the workplace from accommodation, but also to be able to explore the area. ESC is not only about volunteer work, but also about cultural exchange and learning for which exploring their home town is essential. Providing public transportation also encourages the volunteers to be independent and move freely.
Ingredients :
Monthly public pass.
Step by step guide
Buy or reimburse a monthly/yearly public transportation pass for the volunteers. Encourage them to use it also in their free time. Remember to also provide adequate instructions for how the local transportation works.
Important to highlight! To conclude, we view this as a best practice due to a great amount of positive feedback from volunteers for their opportunity to move freely around Helsinki. |
Before you start cooking, keep in mind…
Project is held in remote areas without public transportation, in these situations it may be more relevant to provide a bike or car-sharing within the local community.
