What challenge inspired this recipe?

Many volunteers have raised awareness about the positive sides of regular events for volunteers. Regular events bring volunteers together regularly, fostering a sense of community. Over time, volunteers get to know each other better, form friendships, and create a supportive network. It can also provide individuals with a sense of purpose and fulfillment.

Step by step guide

First, it is important to make sure that the date is suitable for everyone or at least for the majority of the people. The theme of the event can be something decided together, or inspired by for example cultural traditions. For example, we often host pre-Christmas parties, which is a common Finnish tradition. This allows the volunteers to learn more about Finnish culture as they are having fun and getting to know other volunteers in the meantime better.

Events can always be held online on platforms like google meets or zoom if the volunteers are also from different cities and cannot participate. .

Important to highlight!

Regular events among volunteers offer a lot of benefits, including community building, skill development, and sustained impact on the causes they support. The sense of purpose and fulfillment experienced by volunteers fosters a positive work culture and encourages long-term commitment. By taking proactive measures and promoting innovation, regular events can maintain their positive impact and adapt to changing circumstances.

Before you start cooking, keep in mind…

Regular events may attract a core group of dedicated volunteers, but they may struggle to reach and engage new volunteers or volunteers who are more shy to participate in the events. This lack of diversity could limit fresh perspectives and ideas within the volunteering community. If a regular event heavily relies on a small group of committed volunteers, the absence or departure of one or more key individuals can disrupt the event’s continuity and effectiveness. Organizers must also be mindful of potential challenges such as volunteer burnout, limited diversity, and stagnation.

Another constraint is that if volunteers are not living close to each other or in the same city, it can make the volunteers living further away from most of the volunteers feel excluded from the events if they are not able to participate as often.
