What challenge inspired this recipe?
International volunteers need an introduction to the local systems/rules/regulations regarding recycling, waste separation, heating, water resources, etc. of their host countries.
Ingredients :
- Time for research and if necessary, translation
- Printer/E-Mail
Step by step guide
- Researching official guidelines and advice by local environmental organization, sustainability department of the government, etc.
- If not already available in multiple languages, translate into English and the most common languages of your volunteers
- Send infosheets to volunteers and host organisations via e-mail and/or hang the infosheets in the accommodations and host organization working spaces
- Alternatively, research if brief videos are available in English (or even another foreign languages) that explain the local information important and relevant to sustainable lifestyle
Example for Vienna: Umweltberatung (sercive for information and advice regarding sustainability topics) https://www.umweltberatung.at/
Important to highlight!A workshop would probably be more engaging and effective than only spreading the info sheets/videos, however this is the low budget option. |
Before you start cooking, keep in mind…
It is challenging to get volunteers to read info sheets or watch info videos. However, as there are many differences between countries regarding what’s considered sustainable, it is important that volunteers receive this information.
