Step by step guide

Giving the volunteer a bike or budget to find their own bike could be a great way to get them enrolled in a sustainability journey for their project.

If you use the ESC Budget, you can propose the volunteer to find their own bike, try it out and buy it so that you can reimburse them. Other solution is that you buy bikes either from an official vendor or a market place. We always suggest to use the power of the community. If your organization has a community of volunteers, you can ask them for support, or you can find a place in your town that you can explain that you have a volunteer in the community that will do some tasks that would benefit them and if they could support this, it would be great. This way, you can get a discount on it, or they will be able to rent you one for cheaper price.
Other idea is to find an environmental organization that tackles a topic of green cities or sustainable transport in your region and see with them what is the best solution for the local reality

Important to highlight!

We see upscaling in a way that you can collaborate with an organization that tackles this issues, or a bike repair shop for a stable collaboration. You can motivate them for a challenge of going on a tour of the region country on a bike and they can prepare by going with the bike to work. Joining a cycling community online is also a challenge.

Before you start cooking, keep in mind…

It requires a small amount of funds. Used bikes can be found for about 200 euros. Cycling infrastructure is not the best in the area of the volunteer’s projects. Volunteer’s motivation could also be one of the challenges. There are apps that can track your routes and you can even track goals with a group of volunteer. Being constant augments the stamina.
