What challenge inspired this recipe?
One of our past volunteers in a project that we coordinate shared that for a long-term volunteer, the YouthPass often feels like something they will have to do in the distant future, but when the time to actually do it comes, they don’t know what to write in it to complete it.
They discussed that for them, one of the best practices within the project was that together with their coordinator, they worked on the Youth Pass and the Key Competences every month, starting already from the first month of the volunteering work.
Ingredients :
They used the list of the Key Competences from the Youth Portal. The volunteer used a Word document to write down tasks into the right competence.
Step by step guide
The volunteer shared that they had a journal to write their tasks daily. Then, before the monthly meeting between the volunteer and coordinator, the volunteer had to decide which Key Competences they developed/improved by doing those tasks. At the end of the project, they already had all of the competencies completed with tasks and that made the creation/completion of YouthPass really fast and easy.
Important to highlight! The volunteer shared that they realized that this was a best practice while completing their Youth Pass because it was relatively fast and easy. |
Before you start cooking, keep in mind…
Lack of time resources to implement monthly meetings for reflecting on the key competences may be a possible constraint. Ina addition, for the volunteer it can be difficult to remember to write their tasks in the journal and to be consistent with it.
