To feel welcome, what is better than a welcome week?!If an organisations welcomes more than one volunteer, a welcome week can be organized by the team.

A lot of time and someone to coordinate it.
Step by step guide
The welcome week contains :
– A presentation of the team, their missions ;
– A presentation of the office ;
– A tour of the city ;
– Some collective workshops ;
– A language introduction ;
– A testimony of a former volunteer etc.
Important to highlight!It can feel like ‘too much time’, kind of a waste of time but indeed it generates so much and it’s a moment to provide so much information that it’s a gain of time on future support. It also fosters mutual understanding and support amongst volunteers. |
Before you start cooking, keep in mind…
It can be quite difficult to find a tutor with enough time to do it, but some workshops can be led by other volunteers or co-worker.
Also, if it’s organized by the lead organization, the volunteers have to be freed by the hosting structure for that week (and arrange the travel). It can be added in the contract from the recruitment process.
